23.    Once upon a time, there was a Thomas named Thomas.  He was unique, because he was special.  And he was special because he was unique.  Like a unicorn.

       22.  Once upon a time, there was a Thomas named Thomas.  His mommy kissed his head six times.  She kissed his head where his brain is.  Thomas has a beautiful brain.

Thomas' Third 21st Story

       21.  Once upon a time, there was a Thomas named Thomas.  He was six.  He’ll stay six for a long time.  Because now he is grown up, like Mommy.  Mommy must be six, too.

Thomas' Third 20th Story

    20.  Once upon a time, there was a Thomas named Thomas.  He woke up six years old.  He grew up last night in his bed.  His legs grew up.  His arms grew up.  Even his feet grew up – but they were still there.  He was turning into a man!

Thomas' Third 19th Story

   19.     Once upon a time, there was a Thomas named Thomas.  He didn’t touch the wall.  He didn’t touch the wall, because the wall would get dirty.  And when the wall got dirty, it might fall down.  If the wall fell down, the school would crash.  And then the fire department would come.  And there would be a fire drill.  So Thomas didn’t touch the wall.

Steam Train, Dream Train, by Sherri Duskey Rinker, illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld, Chronicle Books, 2013.

I bought this book for my six-year-old son for Christmas because there was a train, a giraffe, and a monkey on the cover -- in that order. I also bought it because I know a little of Rinker's writing. 

I can't comment on how much my son likes this book until after Christmas, but I loved it.
