Kindergarten Note and Response #36

Notes Home From Kindergarten
Note 36

Dear Ms. K –

T was pulling down pants to show underwear with our Peanut Butter song.

Note 36 – Response

Dear Ms. X –

Thank you for at last for giving me a tangible (if not reasonable) complaint.  I am familiar to the Peanut Butter song.  It is sung to the tune of Alouette, that lovely French-Canadian song about plucking feathers from a lark.  For each verse, the child points to the body part or piece of clothing in question, i.e., for the head, the child would point to the head; for the shirt, the child would point to the shirt; and so, therefore, for underwear, the child would point to the underwear.  Perhaps if you do not want the children to point to their underwear, you might want to leave that particular verse out.  Yes, saying “underwear” is very funny to Kindergarten students; showing underwear is even funnier, though.
