Dear Ms. X –
Thank you for at
last for giving me a tangible (if not reasonable) complaint. I am familiar to the Peanut Butter song. It is sung to the tune of Alouette, that
lovely French-Canadian song about plucking feathers from a lark. For each verse, the child points to the body
part or piece of clothing in question, i.e., for the head, the child would
point to the head; for the shirt, the child would point to the shirt; and so, therefore,
for underwear, the child would point to the underwear. Perhaps if you do not want the children to
point to their underwear, you might want to leave that particular verse out. Yes, saying “underwear” is very funny to
Kindergarten students; showing underwear is even funnier, though.
