October 30, 2011 – Later in the afternoon

My brother

Emerges

From his room

Fixes a bowl

Of oatmeal

And settles

In front of the television

To watch

Football

I had not

Planned

To watch

Football

All afternoon

But there is

No reason

Not to

So I

Settle

Into

The other recliner

And take up

My knitting

Or sewing

Or crocheting

And settle

Into

An afternoon

Of football

But with no

Oatmeal

Because

Watching the games

Is important to

My brother

And

My brother

Is important

To me

Oatmeal

However

Is gross
